BBC TV’s Mike Bushell visited the RPRA loft at Tewkesbury on Thursday 4th October to make a short feature on Pigeon Racing.
The weather was superb, and we opened Mike’s eyes up with regard to Pigeon Racing. Raptor predation also got a significant mention. We demonstrated how Pigeon Racing works, and held a short race using Jeremy’s pigeons. Mike also interviewed Jeremy’s daughter, Heather, and was so enthralled with the history and competitive nature of our sport that it is being added into a book he is currently writing that will be on sale around Christmas time.
The feature will be aired on a Saturday morning BBC Breakfast on or shortly after the 20th October. It will also be repeated on the 24hour news channels and other BBC outlets. Eight hours of filming (and many days preparation) will result in a 3 minute feature! We wait to see the final edited piece!
